I’ve Had to Rebuild.

I’m not coming at this from theory.

I’ve spent decades in business, building from the ground up and dealing with real-world consequences.

Then life forced a reset.

I lost my wife.

It happened during the Covid period, and it forced me to look far more critically at the systems I had trusted for years.

What I thought was stable was not.

What I thought was certain was not.

That period stripped everything back to first principles.

What matters. What works. What is real.

And I had to rebuild, not just emotionally, but practically.

That’s where this perspective comes from.

I’m Jim Tait, a Cape Town-based entrepreneur, independent writer and commentator. My work spans business, political and economic commentary, and emerging digital opportunities.

Having been in business since the age of 21, I bring more than four decades of hands-on entrepreneurial experience to my current work in artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship. I also write about South African politics, economics, local governance, decentralisation and individual liberty.

Whether I'm discussing public accountability or learning to build something new, my starting point remains the same: question assumptions, think independently and take personal responsibility.
